I landed at 5:22 a.m. (that would be 3:22 a.m. in Orem time). I crashed at my very generous friend's apartment for a few hours and then decided to get out there and see NY. So I first took the subway into Time's Square because it is always good to go there if you are feeling like a tourist. But as I go to pull out my camera I realized I never checked the batteries and my camera is dead. Oh, well right? It is a little mind boggling to think about. But anyways, with all of my knowledge of HTML I figured I could make my blog really great.

Which lead me to hours on the internet looking at other people's blogs and Web sites of free backgrounds for blogs and all that other blogging stuff. But after all those hours of putting new backgrounds on my blog, and trying to change the code so that it would look the way I wanted it to look. The only thing that I was able to change/fix was how to take out the annoying little advertisement that are in the top left hand corner of the blog, to say where you got the blog background from. To say the least, I was a little disappointed that my newly learned coding skills could only get me that far.

But keep checking back because I am not giving up on figuring out how to use HTLM to get me an amazing blog design. My So-Called Life, instead of This Is... The Life of a Gap Manager.

I have changed the title because my life has changed so I felt it only right to change my title. I decided to step down from being a manger from Gap to focus on school so that I can graduate in two years. In my life more things couldn't have been more different. I am going back to school full time, which means I am not going to be working full time. I don't have my great boss to support me in it but instead have a great old boss and friend that supports me in my decision. That is life but work has stayed the same. It was Gap's Friends and Family this weekend and people still came to buy a pocket tee and jeans for a discount. They have no idea the changes that are happening with the people that ring up there clothes, (which is a good thing, it means I am doing my job). I bought bagels in honor of Andrea who would always bring in bagels on Saturday morning of G&G. So it would feel the same to me but really me knowing there is a time of change coming and it might be big and I don't really know what will happen. I could go into this time scared, but I have decided that I will look towards the future with excitement of a new journey that lays ahead of me.Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-58099764129960821142010-03-14T22:19:00.006-06:002010-10-12T22:43:58.675-06:00clean teeth on the go

I have been seeing this things at the store for a while now and couldn't resist trying them. Once you watch one you can’t seem to stop watching. I get addicted to watching ladies with too much makeup and big hair trying to sell you stuff that you don’t need but some how you think you need after watching big haired lady talking about organizing your closet with this amazing product for only $9.99 for three months plus shipping and handing.

Well I bought one of those Seen-On-TV items that they sell at stores like the Seen-on-TV store and Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

(see it looks great! like it has sides that stand up and a bottom that doesn't flop)

I bought the Shoes Under item. It was going to be amazing because you could store 12 pairs of shoes in it and store it under your bed and it had a clear plastic top so you can see the shoes. So as I buy it at Bed, Beth and Beyond I open up the box which is small and realize this might not be as great as the lady with a lot of eyeliner said so. Because it has no bottom that keeps it flat and the clear plastic top is for the whole thing and not the just on one side.

(See not so great as it was in the picture or on TV)

So that got me thinking do I really like this? Is this worth the $9.99? Well I haven’t quite decided. I like that it holds all me shoes underneath my bed. But there is no support system for the bottom of it so if you take out a pair of shoes and then maybe another then try to push it back under your bed it goes all scrunchy and doesn’t move under. So I am clearly not sure if I want to keep it or return it. Because what else is out there that can hold all my shoes under my bed?

Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-70051987015990505012010-02-26T21:58:00.002-07:002010-02-26T22:12:08.791-07:00See It...The Young Victoria

It happens to be a Friday night which is Movie Night for me and one of my bestest friends, Stacey. Tonight was The Young Victoria. First of all I had to kind talk Stacey into this one because it wasn't playing at your usually movie theater and she had no idea what the movie was about I told her it is the one with Emily Blunt in it.

Well I just got back from it and we both LOVED it. It was amazing, after it was over I liked it so much I could have sat there and watched more for another three hours! It was great, amazing and every other synonym of those words. Emily Blunt was amazing but she usually always is, but her Prince, Rupert Friend was also amazing and I am now in love with him. Just look at that picture and tell me that you don't just fall in love with him too.

This movie was like Jane Austen but for royals, it was so great and I hope it wins at the Oscars, I will be hoping for it.
Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-81930060709203369562010-02-20T12:20:00.003-07:002010-02-20T12:28:36.688-07:00quick everyone get to shade

ok I never thought I would use those words right next to each other. It is a J. Crew bag, but it is $298. This used to be no big deal, I found a bag I would buy it. But I have just recently moved out of a free of rent place to a place that I now have to pay rent, (which I hate by the way, paying rent is pointless, but it is beside the point) so now I have to think about it and, oh, it hurts me to say, maybe save up for it. But I am determined to have this bag so next time you see me look for the bag but it might take a couple of pay checks so keep looking.Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-43320539054062343332010-02-16T21:29:00.002-07:002010-02-16T21:39:51.248-07:00Remember Me!
Today I reminded my family that I have a blog and that I post quite frequently. I have read all the Percy Jackson books and LOVED them, and LOVED the story behind them. Rick is my hero, he is an amazing person and his son Haley is also my demi-god hero. So back to the movie, I not the kind of person that hates all movies that are based on books. Because lets get real the 400 page book (where you have detail and get to know the characters) is probably going to beat out movie (expect in the case of Twilight). I liked the movie it was entertaining and kept to the story pretty well. Somethings were obviously cut out, so we didn't spend a week watching the movie.

The best part of the show was Grover, who is Percy's protector and a Satyr. My favorite line (not from him but because of his actions) was "why are you taking your pants off?" The actor is Brandon T. Jackson, and he was hysterical. He had great lines and was a great actor.

Ok now for my one complaint, is Annabeth. She is the heroine of the books and movie. And me being a woman and someone who likes to see strong female characters in the lead I put a lot of thought into what Annabeth was like and what she looked like. Well, Alexandra Daddario was not the person that I imagined, Annabeth to look like. I can't think of an actress right now who I would want to play Annabeth. But it is not a 23 year old that is suppose to be playing a 12 year old.

That is my only complaint so everyone should go see it because the story is amazing and I am hoping for a few more movies about Percy.
Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-86992735100011677602010-02-13T23:19:00.002-07:002010-02-14T00:28:03.030-07:00Happy Valentines Day!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 299px; height: 299px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mp0WLCf0IKI/S3el9-YL4UI/AAAAAAAAADM/kgmY9ULtxao/s320/necco-conversation-hearts.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437997559208206658" />
I just want to start off saying that I am not dating anyone and I don't hate Valentines Day. Because it is a day of expressing your love to your loved ones. So my valentines tonight were my dad and my brother. We did a dinner and a movie and I had a great time. We saw Percy Jackson which I read and had my brother read and I treated them both to the movie. I will write more about Percy more. But I just wanted to say I love you all and am glad to have you in my life.Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-56690527392333763102010-02-11T22:22:00.002-07:002010-02-11T22:35:47.403-07:00Getting Strange Looks from Co-works<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 245px; height: 225px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mp0WLCf0IKI/S3TokMdTVRI/AAAAAAAAADE/31eL88oFAiU/s400/jen-lancaster.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437226358660093202" />

One of my favorite authors is Jen Lancaster. She writes funny memoirs about what else? Her funny life. But not only does she write books, but you can get short doses of Jen's funniness from her blog jennsylvania.com. Well one usually work day for me was going by and while I was on my lunch in the employee break area I decided to check up on jennslyvania to see what was new. When I found this blog post (that I have posted below) I could not stop laughing out loud while eating my lean cuisine microwave meal. I got quite a few stares and odd looks, so beware that if you read this in a public place to will too. I also you laugh just as hard as me because we have all done some thing like this.

February 04, 2010

The Evolution Of A Bad Idea

10:15 PM - Hmm, getting late. I should get ready for bed.

10:30 PM - Hmm, getting even later. I should get ready for bed.

10:45 PM - Someone on the internet is mistaken and I must express my displeasure with many upper-case letters and exclamation points.

11:00 PM - It's really not getting any earlier, is it?

11:10 PM - Nightly skin inspection in bathroom mirror. Not perfect, but not bad for my age/lifestyle/aversion to sunscreen.

11:11 PM - Hey, what would happen if I used a magnifying mirror during my inspection?

11:12 PM - SWEET JESUS, MAKE IT STOP!

11:13 PM - Re-inspect by light of bedside lamp. Ah, all better.

11:14 PM - But what if I put in a brighter bulb?

11:15 PM - IS FURRY BEAST! KILL IT! KIIIIIIIIL IT!

11:16 PM - "What do you think I'm doing? I'm looking at my skin in this mirror. And I've either got to wax this mustache or start giving rides on it, ha ha!"

11:16 PM - "What do you mean, 'I don't think that expression means what you think it means'?"

11:17 PM - Oh. Then that man at Target with the "Free Mustache Rides" logo was wearing a very dirty shirt.

11:18 PM - "Then I would like to amend my previous statement. I need to wax this mustache or learn to twirl it, ha ha!"

11:19 PM - I should tweeze this thing.

11:20 PM - I should find my tweezers.

11:21 PM - Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.

11:22 PM - Screw this. I need a professional waxing. Must make an appointment.

11:25 PM - Can't. Stop. Fondling. Mustache.

11:30 PM - Fine, I'll do the goddamned thing myself.

11:40 PM - Can't find new tub of wax I purchased for just this very occasion, so locate old container. Is very old. Is possibly the exact same tub that Moses's wife used to remove her unwanted facial hair. (Desert light is unforgiving.)

11:41 PM - But it's wax. It's not like it could go bad, right?

11:42 PM - "I'm not 'banging around and keeping you awake.' I'm doing something important."

11:43 PM - Microwaving.

11:44 PM - Microwaving.

11:45 PM - Microwaving.

11:46 PM - Microwaving.

11:47 PM - I think my microwave may be broken.

11:48 PM - Ah, there we go.

11:49 PM - I don't have a stick, so I'll just use my finger to stir this hot, molten lava.

11:50 PM - "Well, what do you expect? I just seared off my own fingerprint!"

11:51 PM - Blow and cool. Use damaged digit to spread wax liberally on my Tom Selleck.

11:52 PM - Wait for wax to harden so can pull off unsightly hairs in one (briefly painful) fell swoop.

11:53 PM - Is not hardening.

11:54 PM - Is not hardening.

11:55 PM - Is not hardening. Is sitting on upper lip in a big, sticky blob.

11:56 PM - Begin to tentatively peel off wax millimeter by millimeter. (Hate metric system.)

11:57 PM - Is like removing chewing gum from underneath cafeteria table, only ouchy.

11:57 PM - Hurty.

11:58 PM - Hurty.

11:59 PM - So very hurty.

12:00 AM - Use sticky bits of already-peeled wax to slowly pry off other gummy bits.

12:01 AM - Oh, yeah, this is WAY better than waiting nine hours to pay a professional ten dollars to handle this in five seconds.

12:02 AM - The good news is the hair is coming off.

12:03 AM - The bad news is, so is my skin.

12:04 AM - How mad will he be if I wake him up to help me?

12:05 AM - On second thought, he'd be mad for a second, but the mocking would last a lifetime. Must cowboy-up and finish job myself.

12:06 AM - ...And it's finally off!

12:07 AM - Except for those small, tacky bits with the Kleenex stuck to them.

12:08 AM - I know, I'll use baby oil. That gets rid of sticky stuff.

12:09 AM - Hmm, I don't have a baby oil. Instead opt for canola oil. (Is hearty-healthy.)

12:10 AM - Wax is off, now to remove oil. Need toner.

12:11 AM - But tossed out toner after that whole "who thought it was a good idea to make this stuff the exact same shade of blue as the nail polish remover?" incident.

12:12 AM - Will use Fletch's toner. Quietly.

12:13 AM - !!!

12:14 AM - "WELL MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN 'GLYCOLIC ACID' IN BIGGER PRINT ON THE BOTTLE!"

12:15 AM - Probably should plan to make an "I'm sorry I got shouty after midnight mousse" tomorrow.

12:16 AM - Inspect skin in magnifying mirror by light of new bulb. Hair is gone, but lip is swollen in manner of Simpson's character.

12:17 AM - So this is what I'd look like if I had the capability of growing a big, red fu-manchu mustache. Noted.

12:18 AM - In retrospect, perhaps "learn to twirl it" wasn't such a bad idea.

12:19 AM - Is really late. Must get ready for bed.

12:20 AM - I wonder if anyone else on the internet is wrong?Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-57251049603525572502010-02-07T23:04:00.002-07:002010-02-07T23:16:30.756-07:00Reading... The 39 Clues book #7<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 236px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mp0WLCf0IKI/S2-sNfB6NyI/AAAAAAAAAC8/MCWrqStUEo0/s320/9780545060479.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435752622927263522" />
This book is called The Viper's Nest and if you don't know about this series, let me tell you about it now: Rick Riordan (amazing author of the Percy Jackson books) started this series of books with the intention of ten books in the series but having ten different authors for each one.

The books are for a younger reader but I like the mystery of them and I love the concept of have a different author for each book. You can see how talented the author is by having to copy the tone of the book through all books.

I said that Riordan had the intention of only ten books because that is what he said when the series started but the books are called 39 clues and so far we only have 6 clues are we are on book #7. So either we are going to find a lot fast or there is going to be more books, which I would not mind.Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2900851495998074093.post-13669656322911874972010-02-05T01:03:00.002-07:002010-02-05T01:16:02.219-07:00Seen It...The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 193px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_mp0WLCf0IKI/S2vTs9eQOJI/AAAAAAAAAC0/yWesGaxR3fQ/s320/the-imaginarium-of-dr-parnassus.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434670144721795218" />
Heath Leader's final film before he died was this movie, and the first shot you see of him is Heath's character hanging off a bridge. A little creepy if you ask me, usually fore shadowing doesn't extend to the actor's really life, just the characters that they are playing. Heath died before the film was finished filming but the way the movie was put together I would ever know that. I need to do some research to see if the film was changed because of his death or what happened. Because it is very interesting. I'll post what I learn so keep reading.Rachel Campbellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05597203030341422313noreply@blogger.com0
