On My Repeat... All of Glee's Songs

Ok I love Glee like most people (except for my brother, but whatever to him, it's his loss). I love Glee because whatever mood you are in there is a song for that.

Such as, if you are feeling alone, you have Finn singing "I'll Stand By You." Or if you are crushing on your teacher you have Mr. Shoe saying, "Don't Stand To Close To Me." Or you don't want anyone to rain on your parade then you have Rachel that you can sing along with.

So whatever you are feeling and need a pick me up song or a comfort song, I am sure that Glee has something for you.

Grandma Lola

Today is my Grandmother's birthday. I would love to tell you how old she would be if she was still alive but the truth is that I don't know how old she would be. My guess would be about 87, but I am sure that as I write this, she is looking down from Heaven cursing me out because I am thinking of her older then she would really be.

To celebrate the birth of my wonderful Grandma Lola, my family, held a birthday party in her honor. Where we filled ourselves with her favorite foods which is roast beef, potatoes, corn and green jello with pineapples in it. Then for dessert was tapioca pudding and sheet cake. It was all delicious and make me wish for a taste of her cooking again. (And if we were to have done a breakfast birthday party it would have been orange juice and frozen blueberry waffles.)
Then before ending the night we pulled out the Triominos, her favorite game. I was about to pull out twister too, but realized that I gave that game away when I stopping being good at it which was about 6th grade.

I loved my Grandma, and will make sure that she will never be forgotten by me or any later generation because every December 28th there will be a Grandma Lola Birthday party where we honor her birth.

On My Repeat... Smile

I have always loved the song Smile by Charlie Chaplin, because one; the words are amazing and two; it is hard to think of Chaplin being sad enough to cry, which makes the song all the more interesting.

I can't imagine Chaplin having pain and sorrow, and that must come from all his films where he was just a goofy guy and nothing kept him down. I also think it was the no talking thing.

So when Glee was going to do his song I was nervous about how it would turn it, I mean would it become some sort of rapish song where they lose the turn sentiment of the song. But all my worrying was for nothing because once I herd it I was in love. So download it and listen to it when your heart is aching, or there are clouds in the sky.

Friday Night Lights

I want so badly to watch season 4 of Friday Night Lights but sadly I do not have DirecTV. I have even sought out friends and family that have DirecTV so that they could record it for me and I could watch it. But that turned into an awkward situation when I came at a bad time to watch the season premiere, at my cousin's house. So it is looking like I will have to wait until summer to get my fix of Tim Riggins and all the other Dillion locals.

Loving...Sooner or Later

I cannot stop listening to Michelle Branch's Sooner or Later. I know that it came out a while ago, and I bought the song right when it came out thanks to My Alerts on iTunes, but I guess that I finally got around to listening to it. So everyone should get around to listening to it because it is amazing!

Uncle Doug reminds me of...

Recently my cousin has moved in with our Great Uncle Doug. Now this was surprising to me because I had no idea that my cousin even knew Uncle Doug, other then seeing him at funerals, and weddings, you know the usually family events. Well it turns out that they had a relationship this whole time and my cousin decided to live at Uncle Doug's because of that relationship and because of the location of Uncle Doug's house to my cousins work.

When I found this out my first questions was, "when did you get to know Unc
le Doug, you are always hanging out with me during family things, and I don't know Uncle
Doug good enough to live with him?"

My cousins reply to this was well you should get to know him. He is a really cool guy.

Well all of this talk about great uncles and old people made me think of two books that I
love.

The first is Twenties Girl, by Sophie Kinsella. The main character, Lara, has an overactive imagination but when she starts to see her dead Great Aunt Sadie, she isn't sure what to think. I love this book because as Sadie "haunts" Lara, Lara sees that her great aunt was an amazing person and regrets that she didn't know Sadie when she was alive.

The next book it made me think of was Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen. The first chapter in the book is an older man, floating between his past and the present. I loved seeing how this person grew from child to man then to an old man thinking back on his life and just wanting to do what he loved. You were in his head as an old man knowing his struggles and pains, wishing you could help him in some way.

So maybe after remembering these books, I will take my cousins advice and get to know Uncle Doug.

Loving... White Collar

I love TV shows, I usually get addicted to one and completely get submerged in the lives of the characters of the show.

Then I suck the next person I see right into my obsessiveness, but they usually don't care as much as I do and I try to make them by saying things like this, "Georgina totally has it out for everyone and the only person that sees this is Serena, and maybe Blair but she is trying to take over as Queen Bee of NYU."

Then after I have said these things, they still don't really care and walk away. But I know a good TV show when I see it and last night was the premiere of White Collar, and I loved it. It has a beautiful cast of people and you just wish that you could see Neal with his shirt off more often. But besides the beautiful people it was funny and it had a twist with an old girlfriend that I didn't see coming. This TV show is going to be big! So start watching now, so that you are not left out, and when I try to bring you into my obsessiveness you can be obsessed right along with me.

Loving... The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Just finished the book The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by, Stieg Larsson. I loved the book but the author's story about how the book was published is what I am loving more. Larsson is Swedish, as in lived in Sweden, not like he is a yummy gummy red fish, because fishes can't write books.

While Larsson was living in Sweden, he was an editor in chief of a magazine, and in his spare time he wrote three books. Then in 2004 he died but not before he delivered his manuscripts for a trilogy of "The Girl" books. Then in 2005 his first book in the trilogy, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, was published in Sweden. Three years later the book would be translated into english and sold in the United States, and become a national bestseller.

How completely sad is that! Larsson never got to see his book published and then cross the ocean and become a bestseller.

The second book is out now and called, The Girl Who Played With Fire. I can't wait to pick it up and start reading it.

Manager Is Just A Fancy Title For Babysitter

Being a manager you learn pretty fast that what you do is babysit, the same thing you did when you were 10 years old, but the babysittees are older and you get paid a lot better. I help manage about 60 employees, so this week while my parents where out of town and I am babysitting my brother and sister who are 20 and 15, I think piece of cake right? I just make sure no one is having sex or doing drugs and the house doesn't burn down. Well no, it hasn't been a piece of cake. The parents have been gone for two days and in those two days I have already had three breakdowns with the 15 year old. I had to make sure everyone was up and that the 20 year old got to school OK. Then in between those we've had one disaster with the dishwasher, one incident with the trash cans, and one smelly problem with instant potatoes. I am having to be responsible for not only my life but two others. I can manage being responsible for mine, but two other lives is getting a bit hard. I just have to say that nothing about being a Gap manager has prepared me for babysitting this week. I just hope I and everyone else can live until Saturday.

Days Off

Working in retail means that you are open all the time. Which means to me that someone needs to run the store all those times you are open. So you do not get Saturday, and Sunday off like a lot of working people. So today, Thursday, was my day off. And on my day off I was just trying to catch up with house work stuff, like trying to figure out where the laundry basket clothes started and if any of those around them where clean. I decided when in doubt assume they are all dirty. I had no big plans for the day, so, I mean I showered and put on decent clothes but that is where my getting ready stopped. I am here to warn you that never should answer the door when it is your day off and you have not put make-up on. Because, you never know who will be on the other side of that door. And today was the day when I completely disregard my advise and open that door anyways I found that it was not a small child selling cookies but it was someone I knew from high school. And it's not like I was in love with the person or anything, but I could have a least had make up and done my hair, you know. So note to self, I will alway put on make-up on my days off
